Electrotherapy Modalities
Electrotherapy modalities are used to facilitate the natural healing response by an increase in energy. (Electrical, sound or temperature)
Electrotherapy and local modalities have short-term benefits to assist the introduction of long term benefit techniques such as manual therapy and exercise.
Modalities used include Ultrasound, EMS (Electrical muscle stimulation), TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), IFC ( Interferential Current Therapy), heat or cold.
Each modality serves a unique purpose to decrease pain, relax muscle spasm, decrease swelling & increase blood circulation.
Lorenda believes that electrotherapy and local modalities are to be used in collaboration with manual therapy and active exercises.
